Emulsion Ruins

‘Emulsion Ruins’ is a series of limited edition photographic prints celebrating the historical Nafplio and its iconic Palamidi fortress. Marina first visited Nafplio in 1997 and fell in love with it’s romantic energy, raw natural beauty and historical architecture.

Nafplio is seaport town located in the Peloponnese, Greece, and was the first capital of the modern Greek state. The town was named after Nafplios, son of Poseidon, and was also famous as the birthplace of Palamidis, the local hero of the Trojan War.

To give the prints a vintage old-world feel, white and brown art papers were hand-coated with liquid emulsion, and printed by Marina in the darkroom. Some prints were also sepia toned.
